Electric Monks and Fast Transients

I’ve been saying lately I want to turn myself into a bot. What do I mean by that? The best answer is the character of the Electric Monk in Douglas Adams’ novel, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. The Electric Monk is designed to believe things for you. This is not just hilarious, it is in fact a better statement of the problem of creating artificial humans than "Artificial Intelligence". You could say that AI is based on the idea that the essence of being human is intelligence: cognitive prowess. I disagree. I think the essence of being human is the capacity for belief.
